Update on Contemporary Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery


This session will provide a brief historical perspective on hip and knee arthroplasty. In addition, an overview of contemporary techniques and practices will be given.

Objectives:

1. Appreciation for development of hip and knew arthroplasty
2. Benefits of both cemented and non-cemented arthroplasty
3. Understand multimodal pain therapy and advanced PT protocols.

Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates is program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Christopher Blair, DO, Texas Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Christopher Blair is a board-certified family physician and orthopedic surgeon.  He practiced family medicine for 17 years before continuing to pursue his dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.  In addition, Dr. Blair earned an MBA from the Cox School of Business at SMU and then later attended law school at Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

Dr. Blair discloses that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients relative to the content of this presentation.
