Pain Management & Opioid Therapy 2019: A Responsibility to Protect


Objectives:
 Develop an understanding of the multiple national position statements and their emphasis on balancing management of pain with risks associated with opioids
 Gain knowledge in the risk assessment of the chronic pain patient and the appropriate management of those patients in a multi-modal treatment plan
 Understand the implications of SB 1446 and 848 in the management of the acute and chronic pain patient and how it impacts your practice
 
Grievance Policy
Program grievances will be presented to the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees and dealt with appropriately. If this action did not resolve the problem to satisfaction, the person with the grievance will be directed to the American Osteopathic Association’s Division of Continuing Medical Education.
 
Accreditation
The OOA is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

C. Scott Anthony, DO

C. Scott Anthony, DO is a board certified pain management physician in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He received his medical training at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1990. He then completed a residency in anesthesiology, as well as a pain management fellowship, at Washington University/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He received board certification in both anesthesiology and pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Anthony’s practice is devoted to all aspects of interventional and medical management of chronic and cancer pain. He is a clinical professor of surgery at OSU-COM. Dr. Anthony is also a key voice in the state of Oklahoma in the area of education regarding the proper and appropriate use of opioid therapies in medical practice, as well as the prevention of misuse and diversion of opioids.
