Dermatological Manifestation in Skin of Color


 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss common skin conditions in patients with skin of color
  2. Highlight skin conditions that predominantly occur in skin of color
  3. Discuss unique considerations in treating skin of color

Dr. Doralyn Jones, D.O.

Dr. Jones is the Associate Chair for Family Medicine and Director for Diversity and Inclusion at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas and she works in Urgent Care at Prisma Health Care System. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and OMT. She is one of the organizers of VCOM’s “Brave Space Learning Sessions,” which is a judgment-free platform that allow students and faculty to discuss topics such as racial bias, health disparities, privilege, and how our actions have an effect on marginalized populations.   Dr. Jones received her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Virginia and completed a Family Medicine Residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. She is a member of the South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society.
