Risk Management: Telemedicine

Telemedicine has expanded as technology has allowed it, and with the COVID pandemic, expanded even more. With the introduction of technology and the ability to “see” patients virtually, there is a need for physicians to understand the risks associated with telemedicine and identify how the government is scrutinizing it to avoid potential pitfalls and the potential for litigation.

Learning Objectives

Following the completion of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

         2.  Define the impact that COVID has had on telemedicine and the waivers that came along with it.
         3.  Recognize the scrutiny that is being placed on telemedicine by the government.
         4.  Know Virginia’s Codification of Waivers for Telemedicine.
