Donna Becker's Profile

Dr. Donna Becker has been practicing medicine for almost twenty years. Her rich experiences range from performing as a general practitioner, to serving patients in emergency rooms, to practicing and promoting anti-aging and health maintenance medicine. Dr. Becker graduated from the Fort Worth Osteopathic Medical School in 1984. After interning at the Corpus Christi Osteopathic Hospital, Dr. Becker headed a general medicine clinic in Aransas Pass. Over the next five years, she served thousands of patients, and quickly established herself as a premier primary care physician in South Texas. In 1991, Dr. Becker returned to academia, and entered the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program. After graduation, she accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Olympia Fields Hospital in Illinois. She received board certification in Emergency Medicine in 1996, and then returned to her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. She worked with a team of Emergency Medicine Specialists at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital.

Dr. Carol Browne is a Texas native born in Corpus Christi. She received her B.A. in biology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and her D.O. degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM). She completed her residency in Family Practice at the Fort Worth Osteopathic Medical Center, and she is board certified in Family Medicine (FM) and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM-OMM). 

Dr. Browne was previously a faculty member at UNTHSC-TCOM for ten years in both the Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine departments. She received several honors while on faculty including the Coleman Clinical Faculty of the Year, Honors Professor for Pre-Clinical Division, the Gender Equity Award, as well as the National Student Osteopathic Association George Northrup Award for Osteopathic Educator of the Year. After leaving UNTHSC-TCOM, Dr. Browne was in private practice in FM/OMM, in both Missouri and Florida. Dr. Browne was excited to "come back home" to Texas to serve as a founding faculty member at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. She was recently promoted to full professor in the Clinically Applied Science Education Department.  

In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Dr. Browne is the Texas Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians President-elect, an American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians examiner, as well as a National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examination Complex Level 2 and 3 item writer and test reviewer.

Dr. Daniel Clearfield is a Board-Certified physician in Primary Care Sports Medicine as well as Family Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He has the ability to treat all varieties of athletic, overuse, and degenerative (wear and tear) injuries and conditions in all ages of patients and athletes. Martha Danhof, DO's Profile

Martha Danhof, DO Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Martha Danhof is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice Palliative Care Medicine. Following graduation from SMU, she worked as the amino acid analyzer technician in the Department of Microbiology at UTSW and then transitioned to graduate work in the microbiology department working on viral molecular genetics. Her desire to pursue a medical career was finally realized after attending TCOM and graduating from UNTHSC-TCOM. She completed internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where she served as Chief resident in her final year of training. Dr. Danhof spent the first four-years post training as a Primary Care Physician in Allen, Texas. She then accepted a position at UNTHSC -TCOM, where she taught in the Internal Medicine department. Following, Dr. Danhof transitioned to hospital medicine, where she worked for the next 15 years. During her time as a hospitalist, she established the Palliative Care program at Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Danhof has had a passion for palliative care and hospice her entire career and feel there is great misunderstanding as to when and what palliative care can offer.

Matthew Eaton, D.O.'s Profile

Dr. Matthew Eaton is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and currently practices throughout San Antonio within the Methodist Hospital System. He pursued his undergraduate education at Purdue University in his native state of Indiana. He went on to receive his Master of Public Health degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Eaton completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in Illinois, served as chief resident at Midwestern University, and has previously practiced medicine in the Chicago metropolitan area. Aside from Emergency Medicine, Dr. Eaton has a special interest in Critical Care, Global Health, and Epidemiology. He has traveled to Honduras and Guatemala on medical mission trips and managed a student run clinic for underserved populations in Chicago. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Eaton is currently serving part-time as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical and Applied Science Education at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. As a part of the outstanding faculty, he is excited to help shape the future of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio.

David Farmer, PhD's Profile

Dr. David Farmer is the Founding Director of the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Institutional Department of Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP). He has helped develop a culture of interprofessional collaboration across UNTHSC’s programs in medicine, pharmacy, health professions, public health, and biomedical sciences. He has led in the establishment of interprofessional education partnerships with Texas Christian University, The University of Texas Arlington, Texas Woman’s University, and Texas Wesleyan University to allow for collaboration across eleven health professions. Dr. Farmer leads initiatives in interprofessional faculty and clinical preceptor development.  As a faculty member in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Farmer works with medical students in the development of their clinical communication skills. He co-leads an HSC institutional initiative in emotional intelligence recognition and development with students, faculty, and staff. As a Clinical Executive with HSC’s SaferCare Texas, he participates in patient safety initiatives, focusing on team development and the creation of psychological safety. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Dr. Farmer came to UNTHSC with twenty-three years’ experience in the clinical practice of counseling psychology. Dr. Farmer received his PhD in Counseling and master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Traci Groening is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She also serves as the OBGYN Division Chief and Clerkship Director. Dr. Lockman graduated cum laude from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in Human Physiology. Shanhong Lu, M.D., PhD's Profile

Dr. Shanhong Lu is a third-generation female medical doctor. She grew up with two traditions of medicine: her grandmother was a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and her mom was the first female cardiologist and professor of medicine. Dr. Lu holds an MD, and a PhD in Human Physiology, and was postdoctoral fellowship trained in Genetics of Hypertension. Dr. Midturi completed his medical training at University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth. He then pursued combined training in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, followed by an Adult Infectious Disease fellowship, all at Scott & White Healthcare. A fifth generation Texan, Monte Mitchell was born and practices medicine in Fort Worth.  After graduating from University of Texas with a degree in public health, he was accepted into graduate school at the University of North Texas to do basic cancer research. Dr. Mitchell followed graduate school with medical school at TCOM and graduated TCOM in 1983.  He did a rotating internship at Dallas Fort Worth Medical Center and three (3) years in a surgical residency at Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital. His growing interest in politics and his desire to eventually be a force for change in our political system led him to study Law and Ethics. He studied law at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and studied ethics at Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology, graduating with an MTS degree. Dr. Mitchell’s desire to make a difference led him to charitable work.  From 1989 until 1996, Dr. Mitchell was a staff doctor at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas and while at CFNI conducted medical missions all over the world.  He served on the Administrative Committee for Christ for the Nations for 4 years.  Over the 7 years at CFNI, Dr. Mitchell served as teacher, committee member, physician, attorney and friend to staff, students, and administration. Dr. Mitchell is board certified in family medicine, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine. He holds fellowship certificates in both family medicine, emergency medicine, and legal medicine. Dr. Mitchell practices as an emergency physician in the DFW area and recently was regional medical director at WCGTX supervising over 100 physicians.  Dr. Mitchell serves as a Trustee on the TOMA Board of Trustees. In addition, he serves on TOMA’s governmental relations committee and bylaws committee. He has also served on TOMA’s ethics committee and was chairman of that committee from 2003 until 2009.  As a futurist, Dr. Mitchell is fascinated by new developments in medicine and science and is happy to share some of those developments with you now.

Cynthia (Cindy) Penkala, CMM, CMPE, CMSCS, CPOM is the Senior Director of the Physician Services Department at the AOA. In her role she provides and oversees the guidance provided AOA Affiliates, osteopathic physicians and their practices on issues impacting the daily operations of the medical practice. She raises awareness of issues that may impact osteopathic physicians and their practices and administers  the development of member education to assist physicians. With over 40 years working in the health care industry including; 14+ years of medical association experience, 18 + years managing physician practices, owning her own billing and consulting service, and an additional 10 years working in the medical field in general, Cindy uses her versatile skill set to help physicians and their practices be successful. She does this through a continual focus on service offerings, investigation, education, process improvement and a solid background in healthcare services, organizational management, medical billing, and personnel recruiting. Her drive is fueled by her passion to make sure physicians have a choice between becoming employed and remaining independent.

Dr. Shannon Ramsey Jimenez serves as Associate Professor and Chair of Primary Care and Clinical Medicine at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. A graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her internship and residency in Family Medicine at Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan and was Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy in 1999.

Dr. Jimenez has been very active in her profession. She has served as Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Wayne Memorial Hospital and also served on several hospital committees including Patient Safety, and the Ethics and Executive committee. She was a delegate to the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) for 15 years and served on the ACOFP Committee on federal legislation for 9 years. She is currently on the ACOFP Business of Medicine Committee. She was President of the NC Society of the ACOFP for 7 years and has organized numerous CME conferences. She has also served on all of the positions for the board of the North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association 2003-2015 and completed the Ohio University/ NYIT Health Policy Fellowship in 2009. She served on the Review Panel for the North Carolina Medical Board 2008-2010. Dr. Jimenez has been on several speaker’s bureaus and has taught students in her clinic for over 15 years. She was also among the founding Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine faculty and a Regional Assistant Dean at Campbell University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Jimenez started a solo practice in 2009 and grew it to five providers with 10,000 patients before she sold the practice to a university in 2018.  She recently completed a Costin Fellowship for Medical Education at Midwestern University as well as a HRSA funded Primary Care Champions Fellowship at Campbell University.

Dr. Jimenez has been active in her church and loves serving our homeless community. Most importantly, she is married and a mother of two teenage girls. Dr. Jimenez’s personal mission is to help produce more primary care doctors for underserved areas where they are needed.

Lesley Schmitz's Profile

Dr. Lesley Schmitz is a graduate of Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and is boarded in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.  She has managed a successful private practice in her area of specialty and has served in both academic and clinical positions at TCOM and the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine.  

In addition to continuing to look for biomechanical patterns and their implications in posture and gait, Dr. Schmitz is working on functional medicine certification and Re-Code certification; prevention and recovery for brain health with a focus on Alzheimer's disease. A perpetual student, she says that she likes to teach because it gives her an opportunity to learn more! 

As the structure and importance of the diaphragm is evaluated in this presentation, Dr. Schmitz’ goal is to provide links to these somewhat diverse interests and to highlight the importance of osteopathic tenets in light of COVID-19 effects on the body.

Rob Slater is a family and integrative medicine physician who earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and his Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Slater completed residency training in family medicine at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Integrative and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, then became an assistant professor at UTMB. In 2019, Dr. Slater joined the newly-founded medical school at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio to help develop their medical curriculum and currently serves as a director of the Developing Osteopathic Clinical Skills (DOCS) program. He has enthusiastically incorporated integrative health and medicine into the formal curriculum at UIW-SOM, which is now integrated into over 70 different large and small group sessions in the first two years of medical school! Dr. Slater is also the director of the Integrative Gastroenterology course of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM) Fellowship.

Tonya Sweezer, D.O.'s Profile

Dr. Tonya Sweezer is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and Naturopathic physician. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Seattle University and her Naturopathic Medical degree from Bastyr University. She then went on to complete her medical education at the University of North Texas Health Science Center earning her Masters in Health Sciences and her medical degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Sweezer completed her Family Medicine residency training at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, TX.  Dr. Sweezer expertly combines naturopathic, osteopathic, and functional medicine principles with traditional medical practice to optimize health and maintain wellness.

Edmund Tori's Profile

Dr. Ed Tori is the Director of the Influence Center at one of the largest health systems on the East Coast. He assists associates with learning the science of persuasion for better communication, improved care delivery, and behavior change. He speaks on influence and persuasion across industries - anywhere people are doing good in the world. Dr. Tori completed his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in internal medicine at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital where he was both Chief Resident and Resident of the Year. Dr. Tori is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies from Cornell University. From 2003 to 2012, Dr. Tori was the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Step-Down Unit at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he was responsible for running peri-operative cardiac services. In addition to this work, Ed runs several health care training, marketing, influence, and humor websites. A father of six, he teaches entrepreneurship to children and he runs his own mobile game company. He serves as the president of a large religious non-profit organization in Baltimore.

Christine Vidouria, DO's Profile

Dr. Christine Vidouria graduated high school from Tom C. Clark here in San Antonio and went to study microbiology at the University of Texas at El Paso on a Division I volleyball scholarship. She received her medical training at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center at Fort Worth-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Vidouria returned to San Antonio to complete her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During her training she learned that she could incorporate nerve blocks and joint injections with osteopathic manipulative treatments to facilitate patient’s function and reduce pain. She also completed her fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management at UTHSCSA. Dr. Vidouria has been in a private solo-practice for 15 years and has always wanted to teach medical students. 

The opportunity presented itself in the establishment of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine and she joined as part-time faculty teaching Development of Osteopathic Clinical Skills in 2017. Dr. Vidouria enjoys interacting and shaping the future of osteopathic medicine and feels confident that our curriculum facilitates life-long critical thinkers as well as compassionate physicians.

Michael Warner, DO's Profile

Dr. Michael J. Warner received undergraduate degrees in Biology and Philosophy from Villanova University. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from Des Moines University where he also served a one-year undergraduate Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine teaching fellowship. Following fellowship, Dr. Warner completed his internship and family medicine residency at Atlantic City Medical Center, NJ. Dr. Warner is board certified in family medicine (ACOFP) and neuromusculoskeletal medicine (AOBNMM). Dr. Warner practiced family medicine for over 20 years in the Ebensburg/Johnstown, PA region. Most of those years, he was in private practice with his wife, Margaret Warner, D.O. Dr. Warner moved cross country and currently is an associate professor of osteopathic principles and practice at Touro University California, Vallejo, CA. He also represents the AOA as an alternate advisor on AMA RUC and serves AAPC as a National Advisory Board member. He is also president of non-profit Patient Advocacy Initiatives and faculty advisor for TUC’s Patient Advocacy Club.
