Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1)  Understand the DSM V description of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how “severity” is categorized by DSM V.

2)  Understand the rising prevalence and support that the increase is real.

3)  Understand the impact on the healthcare system that ASD is going to have.

4)  Understand the concepts of care for patients, both adult and pediatric, on the spectrum.

Dr. Justus received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.  He went on to receive his D.O. degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMUCOM) in Des Moines, IA.  He completed his internship at Westview Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, and his residency in family medicine at Creighton University Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.  Dr. Justus is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Physicians.  He is an Associate Director at Community Health Network’s Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program in Greenwood, IN.  He also serves as the medical director for the residency clinic.  He is a past president of the Indiana Osteopathic Association (IOA).  He is a recipient of the J. B. Kinsinger Plaque for outstanding service to the osteopathic profession and his community, the IOA’s highest honor.
