Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize that a large percentage of asthmatics have severe asthma and many of these patients remain uncontrolled
  • Understand that frequent steroid bursts and daily steroid bursts can create many health issues
  • Recall biologic agents for severe asthma are approved to decrease exacerbations, decrease daily prednisone use, and improve quality of life.

Eric Karlin, MD - Dr. Karlin is a graduate of University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL.  He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University, in St Louis, MO and an Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He is a board-certified allergist/immunologist and is currently in practice with Allergy Partners of Hampton Roads.  He specializes in the care of asthma, allergies, eczema and food allergy in both pediatric and adult patients.  He has offices in Williamsburg and Newport News.  He and his wife, Dr. Mariel Focseneanu, live in the Hampton Roads area with their two children.
