Description

Dr. Catellier will explain the interaction of the roles of the Emergency Staff with death Investigators in order to ensure an accurate, comprehensive, and compassionate death investigation process.

Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will understand the death investigation systems in the United States and the specifics of the autopsy and its scope as well as its limitations.

Accreditation Statement:
The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 2-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Catellier began her duties as an Associate State Medical Examiner for the State of Iowa on October 2, 2006.  Dr. Catellier spent her undergraduate, medical school, and post-graduate training in Indiana, and her forensic pathology fellowship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Following her training, she worked in general hospital pathology for approximately ten years. Prior to arrival in Iowa, she worked as a forensic pathologist in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Dr. Catellier is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology, and also achieved recertification in these areas. Particular areas of forensic interest include child death and child abuse, elder abuse, and asphyxia/strangulation. Dr. Catellier is a member of the Iowa Child Death Review Committee and Iowa Violent Death Review Committee. She enjoys teaching responsibilities.
