Description

This lecture was presented by Dr. Philip Eskew as part of the 2023 IOA Virtual Spring Update.

Despite its high existence, migraine is still underdiagnosed worldwide reason being the knowledge gap in physicians regarding various clinical aspects like the treatment, diagnosis etc.  Further, data from the American Migraine Study II, sponsored by the National Headache Foundation, show that those who have received a diagnosis suffer at a level similar to that of those who have not. This finding suggests that effective migraine management depends not only on diagnosis but also on ongoing treatment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe and distinguish between the different type of migraines.
  • Discuss acute migraine treatment options.
  • Gain an insight on migraine prevention treatment options.
