Description

What are the warning signs that a patient may have an eating disorder? Dr. Sristi Nath shares symptoms, risk factors and obstacles to assessment and treatment for acute and non-acute cases.

 

Objectives:

  • Differentiate DSM-V criteria for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorders;
  • Distinguish typical acute symptoms, course, and prognosis for eating disorders;
  • Mitigate risk factors and obstacles in assessment for non-acute eating disorders;
  • Formulate goals for treatment of eating disorders

Sristi Nath, DO has practiced psychiatry for 14 years. She completed her bachelors in psychology at Stanford University, her medical degree at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University, in Glendale, Arizona, and her residency and fellowship at the University of Hawaii. She is board certified in both general and child and adolescent psychiatry. Since moving back to Arizona in 2007 to be close to family, Dr. Nath worked in the Maricopa County jail system, at both Estrella and Tent City. She is currently in private practice in North Scottsdale. Dr. Nath serves as a psychiatric consultant for Black Family and Child Services and assistant professor at Midwestern University in the Clinical Education Department. She strongly supports preventative measures and believes in a comprehensive approach to patients, including education, therapy, and social support along with a recommended medication treatment plan.
