Description

This lecture will review the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease and look at risk factors for developing cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s disease. Emphasis will be placed on lifestyle interventions for preventing and treating cognitive decline.

Learning Objectives:
1. To explain many of the contributing factors for memory loss, mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.
2. To discuss an appropriate work up of patients presenting memory loss with or concerned about their memory.
3. To give you tools to help these patients through lifestyle modifications and other interventions, obtain improved cognition.

Melissa Vourlitis, DO is a Fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians and a diplomat with the American Board of Integrative Medicine, as well as a Certified Medical Director with the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.Dr. Vourlitis has an office practice assessing and treating cognitive concerns.  In addition, she makes house calls to home bound patients.  She uses scientifically based assessments and interventions offering her patients more than standard care for cognitive concerns.She enthusiastically shares this information with anyone who will listen.
