In this lecture, you'll learn motivational interviewing for diabetes management.

 

Goals & Objectives:

  • Define motivational interviewing and benefits.

  • Define motivational interviewing techniques.

  • Identify difficulties in the treatment of diabetes and motivational interviewing techniques that would be beneficial specifically pertaining to diabetes. 

  • Identify current research/evidence of motivational interviewing techniques benefits. 

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MAOPS Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital


Dr. Paul T. Korte is a clinical psychologist working within the Primary Care-Mental Health Integration program at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO. He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Palo Alto University in 2011 and completed much of his clinical training in Health Psychology and addictions. He has served in multiple leadership roles within the Truman VA and as a Motivational Interviewing (MI) consultant for the VA’s national MI training program. In addition to his VA roles, Dr. Korte current serves as the President of the Missouri Psychological Association. His clinical and research interests include substance abuse, behavioral addictions, health psychology, and the integration of psychological services into medical settings.

 

Dr. Korte disclosed that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients relative to the content of this presentation.
