Description

This program will expire and must be completed by 06/04/24.

In this presentation, Dr. Davenport-Kabonic and Dr. Paynter will describe CDC and WHO physical activity guidelines as they apply to Yoga and Tai Chi. They will identify movement medicine options for various patient populations and how to integrate those into treatment plans for patients.  They will provide information on the benefits of Yoga and Tai Chi and demonstrate some of the exercise Rx options.

  • Identify Movement Medicine options for a variety of patient populations
  • Demonstrate Exercise Rx options
  • Integrate Movement Medicine and Exercise RX into treatment plans for various patients

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Grievance Policy:

Dr. Christopher Paynter is a Family Physician for SSM Health in Tipton, Missouri. He graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Paynter has served on the board for the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and is the immediate Past President of the Missouri Society of American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He also serves as a Deacon and Leads the Men's Ministry with his local church, Freshwater Church of Jefferson City, MO. He is a current second-degree black belt in American Goju Ryu Karate. He hopes that this talk can provide ways to achieve work-life balance in today's hectic schedule.

Dr. Katie Davenport-Kabonic is a graduate of the AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) in Kirksville, Missouri, where she graduated with honors. In 2012, she was selected as a MAOPS Wetzel Scholar. She completed her residency at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. She completed her Obstetrics fellowship at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. She currently serves Cox Health Family Medicine with Obstetrics as a Faculty Physician and is the SWMO AHEC – Springfield Director of Student Medical Education in Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Davenport-Kabonic is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Davenport-Kabonic is an active member of the MAOPS Education and Convention Committee,the KCOM Curriculum Committee, the Lead Physician for the Walk With A Doc program, and recently obtained her Ozark Mountain Yoga RYS 200 certification.
