Description

A workshop focused on the application of osteopathic principles in the clinical management of migraine headaches, including the treatment of somatic dysfunction related to migraine headaches.

Educational Objectives:
•    Define and discuss diagnostic criteria for migraine headaches.
•    Explain the pathophysiology, including the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of migraine headaches.
•    Discuss the clinical manifestations and the physical examination finding of migraine headaches.
•    Describe and administer the osteopathic manipulative treatment approach to the management of migraine headaches and discuss the treatment goals of the various types of techniques.

Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsä.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) and the National Center for Osteopathic Principles in Education (NCOPPE). MAOPS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Karen Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, is a professor at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM).  Dr. Snider is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.  She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Snider has earned fellowship awards from the American Academy of Osteopathy and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators.

Meredith Lagouros, DO's Profile

Meredith Lagouros, DO is a family medicine physician from Peoria, Illinois. She is a faculty member and the director of osteopathic education at the University of Illinois Peoria Family Medicine residency. Meredith attended Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio and completed her family medicine residency at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. When she is not at work, she is playing legos and princesses with her 3- and 6-year-old daughters, golf with husband Evan, or walking their rescue dog Max.
