Description

Title: Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome—What You Must Know

Presenter: Scott R. Antoine, D.O.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1)  Understand the pathophysiology behind molecular mimicry and its role in autoimmunity.

2)  Understand the neuropsychiatric symptoms from Strep (and other pathogen) infections and how they lead to autoimmune CNS responses.

3)  Understand the history of PANS and the outcomes we have seen in the academic and community centers treating children with this disorder.

4)  Understand the appropriate diagnostic work-up for patients with PANS and current effective treatment approaches.

The Indiana Osteopathic Association (IOA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.  The IOA designates this program for a maximum of 1.00 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

It is the policy of the IOA that any physician dissatisfied with the CME program will be issued a refund upon request, and no CME credits will be reported to the AOA.  Complaints on Evaluation Forms also are taken into consideration when planning future CME programs and may lead to changes in the format or content.
