Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Louisiana


Randy Aldret is the Assistant Dean for Research, Director of Faculty Development and Associate Professor of Family and Sports Medicine for the Monroe, Louisiana campus of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM-Louisiana). Previously, Dr. Aldret was an Associate Professor and the Director of the Athletic Training Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Randy has been a licensed athletic trainer since 1997, with experience in the high school, arena football and collegiate settings, while also serving as an adjunct professor at two other schools (University of Tulsa and Radford University). In June 2021, Dr. Aldret received the Athletic Trainer Service Award from the NATA for his career-long commitment to serving his profession. In 2017, Dr. Aldret began volunteering as an athletic trainer at the US Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and with USA Wrestling, traveling with the team to tournaments in Belarus and Turkey. He was selected to the medical team for the 2019 ParaPan American Games in Lima, Peru, and in August 2021, he was part of the USOPC medical team for the United States Paralympic team in Tokyo providing care to the US ParaJudo team. A multi-time, published researcher, his interests are best practices in athletic training education, athletic performance, and post-eligibility athlete health and social outcomes.

Dr. Stephanie Aldret is a graduate of Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, OK.  She completed an Internship and Residency in Family Medicine at Oklahoma State University as well as a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Blacksburg, VA, where she served as one of the team physicians for Virginia Tech and Radford University.  She is board certified in Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Sports Medicine by the AOBFP.  She is the Co-Chair and Associate Professor for Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Sports Medicine at VCOM-Louisiana. She serves as one of the team physicians for the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Grambling State University, and USA Gymnastics-Trampoline and Tumbling and is part of the volunteer medical pool for USA Wrestling and USA Figure Skating.  She has also provided medical care for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games, 2019 Para-Pan American Games, 2020ne Summer Paralympic Games, 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, Oklahoma Endeavor Games, Oklahoma Special Olympics, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, roller derby, rodeo, hockey (professional and junior hockey), and professional baseball.  Dr Aldret currently serves on the EPIC Advisory Committee, the ACOFP Family Medicine Chairs Committee, the ACOFP OMTeaching Task Force, is a Past-President of the Louisiana Osteopathic Medical Association, a Louisiana delegate to the American Osteopathic Association House of Delegates, and a member of the Rules Committee for the United Federation of Osteopathic Societies.
