 Presentation Title: The Neurobiology of Mind Body Spirit Unity      
Stacey Pierce-Talsma, D.O. 

Session Objectives:
1. Identify how stress, mood disorders and trauma can impact health .
2. Outline how simple mind, body, spirit activities may benefit our physiology.
3. Describe the physiologic effects of mindful movement, breath work and meditation.

 

The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine


Dr. Pierce-Talsma is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine.  She is a MSUCOM graduate who completed an Internship, Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Residency program, and Masters in Medical Education and Leadership at UNECOM.  She is a Fellow in the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME) and is a past AOA Health Policy Fellow. She has previously served as the Chair of the OMM Department at Touro University of California COM.  She currently serves on the AACOM Ethics and Professionalism Task Force, the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) Board of Governors, and as the Vice-Chair of the ACGME ONMM Review Committee.  Dr. Pierce-Talsma is also a registered yoga teacher RYT-500 and lectures nationally on yoga, exercise, movement, osteopathic manipulative medicine and medical education.
