Description

This lecture will describe the key components of a pre-travel consultation and outline resources for offering pre-travel counseling easily and effectively in your practice.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the key components of a pre-travel consultation
2. Demonstrate appropriate assessment and management of specific risks associated with international travel
3. Identify appropriate vaccinations and medications depending on location and risk
4. Outline resources you can use to offer pre-travel counseling easily and effectively in your practice

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MOMA Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Logan Banks DO is a full-time medical missionary serving in Burundi, East Africa. He is a professor of Family Medicine and Obstetrics with Hope Africa University and serves as Director of Medical Education at the university’s rural teaching hospital, Kibuye Hope Hospital. He is also adjunct faculty with Cox Family Medicine Residency in Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Banks attended medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Cox Family Medical Residency, in Springfield, Missouri, following by a fellowship in international family medicine. Dr. Banks is passionate about education and raising up the next generation of doctors and leaders, particularly in Africa.
