Justin Puckett, DO, FAAFP, FACOFP, FOMA Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Justin Puckett is dual board-certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine/OMT and Obesity Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is a graduate of AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Obesity Medicine Association. Dr. Puckett is the Chief Medical Officer of Complete Family Medicine, a practice he founded and has grown to over 20 providers serving seven communities in Northeast Missouri. Dr. Puckett is married to Kylene and has four children, ages 9-14. Together they are active in their faith community and enjoy traveling and exploring new places. He especially enjoys SCUBA diving with his two oldest sons and wife.

Dr. Michael Brown is a graduate of AT Still University - Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed a medical residency in Family and Community Medicine at Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, Missouri. He currently works full-time for Meritas Health in Smithville, Missouri, where he practices Family Medicine. He is the former Assistant Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Medical Director of Telemedicine for Mosaic Life Care. Dr. Brown was the first physician to begin providing direct-to-consumer telemedicine in Missouri. Dr. Brown lives in Smithville, Missouri, with his wife and seven children and continues his family tradition of beekeeping. He also enjoys photography and running, two beneficial skills for any beekeeper. Dr. Brown will be ending his term as President of MAOPS in the next month. Tiffany Lewis, DO, MBA Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Tiffany Lewis is board certified in Radiology by the American College of Radiology. She is also MQSA certified. She obtained her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009 and her MBA in Healthcare Leadership from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, and her Breast Imaging fellowship at The Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2015. Jeff Davis, DO Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Jeff Davis practices in Memphis, Missouri and is the Chief Medical Officer and Staff Family Medicine Physician for Scotland County Hospital. He keeps busy as Coroner for Scotland County, Staff Physician for Scotland County Care Center and Residential Care Facility, and Memphis Medical Services, a federally qualified hospital-based rural health clinic.

Kevin Hubbard, DO, HMDC, MACOI Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Kevin Hubbard is currently a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician with Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to his current position, he served as a Professor and Internal Medicine Chair at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences - College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM). Dr. Brandon Maughan is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Jonathan Wright graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest in Lebanon, Oregon, in 2012. Cynthia (Cindy) Penkala, CMM, CMPE, CMSCS, CPOM is the Senior Director of the Physician Services Department at the AOA. In her role she provides and oversees the guidance provided AOA Affiliates, osteopathic physicians and their practices on issues impacting the daily operations of the medical practice. She raises awareness of issues that may impact osteopathic physicians and their practices and administers  the development of member education to assist physicians. Dr. Christopher Cirino completed his residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC, after graduating from Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Mark Baldwin, DO, FACOI, FASN Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Mark Baldwin graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983. He completed a rotating internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine – Midwestern University and a fellowship in Renal Disease and Hypertension at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Martin Schwarze is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology of St. Louis University Hospitals and the past Chief of Cardiology at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently a physician with the Barnes-Jewish Christian Medical Group.

Dr. Schwarze graduated from the AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, in 1973. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Normandy Osteopathic Hospitals in St. Louis, Missouri.  He completed his Fellowship in Cardiology at St. Louis University Hospital, where he continued to teach echocardiology part-time for 15 years. Upon completing the fellowship, Dr. Schwarze established a private practice, which existed for 32 years.  His group is now part of the BJC Medical Group in the Metropolitan St. Louisarea. Dr. Schwarze is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Schwarze has researched echocardiology, congestive heart failure, and lipid therapy, which has resulted in several publications in these areas. He has spoken at numerous national programs and has been the program chairman of many educational symposia in cardiology. Dr. Schwarze has received four "Educator of the Year" awards and is a Master Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists and a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology. He is also the past President of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA). He has received the Hugh McCollough Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the St. Louis Chapter of the AHA and a lifetime teaching award from Des Peres Hospital.

Dr. Jack Bragg is from Kirksville, Missouri, where he was born and raised and went to school. After military service in the early 1970s, he attended Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri majoring in Political Science and Biology. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (now AT Still University) in 1981 and completed a rotating internship at Northeast Regional Medical Center (NERMC) in Kirksville before going into Family Practice in Ava, Missouri for three years. Luke Van Kirk, DO Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Luke Van Kirk was raised in Minnesota, Louisiana, and Kansas. He graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. There he met friends and had professors that helped him believe he could go to medical school. He attended Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California, and completed his medical training in 2013. He only applied to osteopathic schools because he wanted to learn how to manipulate the spine and body to help his patients as much as possible. Initially, he wanted to go into emergency medicine, but he soon realized he loved the continuity of care and getting to know his patients. That made family medicine the most obvious choice for him.

Dr. Van Kirk was lucky to meet a beautiful girl while he was at Evangel and started dating her before starting medical school. She was in nursing school in Springfield, Missouri, while he was in medical school in California. He decided to do a rotation at Cox Family Medicine Residency Program in Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to his future wife. He started his residency in July of 2012, and it ended up blowing him away. He initially thought he might do emergency department work and outpatient family medicine. This idea didn't last long because he soon discovered that his cousin, Josh Umbehr, had started a direct primary care practice called Atlas MD in Wichita, Kansas. Direct primary care completely changed his focus in residency and made him realize he wanted to do nothing but direct primary care. Thankfully, he has been patient and has waited until now to begin his direct primary care practice. He believes that it will change the world, and most importantly, the health of his patients.  He is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

She recently started working for the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in Charleston, West Virginia. She is the Clerkship Director and is beginning the neurology residency program and seeing patients as part of Charleston Area Medical Center Neurology. Dr. Farid Sadaka is the Medical Director of the Neurologic and Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. A Bucks County native, Dr. Jennifer David is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Anthropology. Dr. David lives in Philadelphia with her two mastiffs, Sammy and Bella, and she enjoys spending time with them at the dog park near her home. He was awarded the Outstanding Junior Faculty Pediatric Abstract Award presented by the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Allergy and Immunology at the AAAAI on two different occasions.

He has co-authored several papers on studies on food allergies. These include "The Prevalence, Severity, and Distribution of Childhood Food Allergy in the United States" published in Pediatrics in 2011 (the often quoted 1 in 13 children are affected by food allergies comes from this paper) and "Parent Report of Physician Diagnosis in Pediatric Food Allergy" published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology," in 2012. He is passionate about food allergies since his older daughter suffers from peanut, tree nut, and chickpea food allergies.

Dr. Warrier is actively involved in the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at SSM St. Mary's Health Center, Mercy Hospital Residency Program, and the Allergy-Immunology Fellowship Program at St. Louis University. Dr. Warrier is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at St. Louis University.

Dr. Ashok Palagiri is Vice President of Mercy Virtual Inpatient Services (vICU, vSepsis, and vHospitalist). He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Jennifer Heyl, Ph.D., HEC-C Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Jennifer Heyl is the Executive Director of Ethics at Mercy Health System based in Chesterfield, Missouri. She started at Mercy in 2002, and her key areas of responsibility have included ethics consultation, education, and policy review and development. Initially, this was for the Mercy East Communities. She now leads a team of seven ethicists across Mercy's four-state Health System. Dr. Kenneth Stewart is an Emergency Medicine Physician in Joplin, Missouri, and northern Arkansas. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Primary Care for Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – Joplin. Caroline Baber was born and raised in Portland, OR where she developed a curiosity for medicine. She attended Western Washington University where she earned a degree in ecology, evolution, and organismal biology while participating in club swimming and water polo. Daniel Horuzsko is currently a second-year medical student attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine at South Georgia. Polly Wiltz Related Seminars and Products

Polly was born in Pullman, WA and spent the majority of her youth between Herzogenaurach, Germany and Kennewick, WA. She graduated from Kamiakin High School in 2009 and moved to Bellingham, WA to attend Western Washington University. She obtained a double degree in Biochemistry and Spanish, and after graduation she moved to Nicaragua to serve as a Community Health Educator for the United States Peace Corps. She spent three years in Central America, organizing national service provider trainings on HIV, reproductive health and STI prevention in local high schools and providing exclusive breastfeeding and newborn nutrition courses in rural outposts in the mountains of Boaco. She was instrumental in establishing Special Olympics Nicaragua, being assigned to the Board of Directors at the Healthy Athlete Program Director. Her interests in medicine range from acute trauma management to sustainable behavior change. My name is Andrew Sulaiman and I am a second-year medical student at Kansas City University. Prior to starting medical school, I earned my PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa, Canada. My research focused on developing novel therapies to target triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and its cancer stem cell population. Throughout medical school I have been eager to continue performing research and when I joined the Konorev Lab at Kansas City University, we blended my expertise in TNBC and Dr. Eugene Konorev’s expertise in cardiology research. Together, we developed our current project which is a two-pronged approach to reduce the cardiotoxic effects of doxorubicin, a chemotherapy commonly used on TNBC patients while enhancing its anti-tumor effects via modulation of TGF-β. Medical school has greatly expanded my understanding to the clinical side of oncology. My long-term goal is to work as an oncologist while also conducting research so that I can offer the best care to my patients.

Rachel Gantz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin into a career military family and has five brothers. Outdoor activities and sports were prominent yet, there was always time to volunteer and give back to inner city Milwaukee community.  She graduated Sigma Cum Laude from Winona State University, Minnesota in 2018 with a degree in Chemistry and minor in Biochemistry. During her time at Winona, she continued to volunteer to help the underserved at the St Joseph’s Free Medical Clinic, Make a Wish Foundation and the local food bank.  She also was the Captain of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Team and was Academic All-Conference.

Hello, my name is Dayne Moore.  I was raised in Lehi, Utah where I graduated with high honors from Lehi High School in 2013. I went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Utah in 2019.

In between High School and College, I served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California.  I learned Spanish and continued to use that skill as a manager at a Brazilian Steakhouse called Rodizio Grill from 2017-2019.  I also volunteered as a translator and exercise specialist at the Hope Clinic, a free clinic in Utah for underserved families in the community.  I am excited to learn the art of medicine and hone my medical skills while striving to assist the physicians and patients during my rotations.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, hunting, and playing sports.  I love traveling and going on adventures with my wife. We are also looking forward to welcoming the newest adventure in our family June 2021.

Greetings! My name is Vishakha Sharma and I am a first year medical student at Kansas City University. I am originally from India, grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and recently moved to Kansas City, Missouri for school. I studied biological sciences with a minor in social work and chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. I obtained my master’s in immunology along with my thesis in Aging and Gender Effects in Obesity from the University of Cincinnati. My name is Kyle. I was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of Alaska I moved to Washington and started my medical training at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU). As a medical student I became fascinated with gross human anatomy and was selected to join the anatomy department at PNWU for a 1-year teaching and research fellowship. I have enjoyed this experience and look forward to teaching again later in my career. My fascination with anatomy started me down the path to becoming a surgeon and during this next academic year I will be pursuing a general surgery residency. Dr. Sonia Hasbun completed her double bachelor’s degrees in General Science and Spanish from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.
