Dr. Karen Powell is a Des Moines University graduate who did her residency training in psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She works for MercyOne as the Medical Director of the Psychiatry Residency Clinic and AssociateProgram Director of MercyOne’s Iowa Medical Education Collaborative Psychiatry Residency Program.
Dr. Powell also facilitates Iowa’s second ECHO hub, which is a virtual learning community including PCPs and mental health specialists to empower PCPs in their treatment of mental health. Dr. Powell is a Florida native and lives with her husband and daughter in Des Moines.
