Description

Proton Pump Inhibitors, or PPIs, have been commonly used for nearly 30 years. Dr. Richard Shaughnessy reviews the risks and benefits of these drugs. 

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Differentiate the mechanism of action for proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)

  • Assess the risk of PPIs in current literature

  • Evaluate optimal use of PPIs to maximize benefits and reduce risks

Richard Shaughnessy, DO Related Seminars and Products


Richard Shaughnessy, DO graduated from Western University-COMP and completed his internal medicine residency at the Banner Good Samaritan/Phoenix VAMC, serving as a chief resident. Dr. Shaughnessy completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and joined Arizona Digestive Health in central Phoenix. He serves as core faculty for the gastroenterology fellowship and is director of endoscopy at Banner University Medical Center. He is a founding member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center of Excellence for Arizona Digestive Health. Dr. Shaughnessy lives in Phoenix with his wife Joanna and two children. He loves the outdoors, especially skiing.
