A comprehensive review of the most common surgical procedures performed for morbid obesity. We will discuss results along with risk/benefit analysis of each surgery. We will also discuss some of the current surgical controversies such as reflux after bariatric surgery.
Through a psychological, sociological and eating disorder treatment lens, participants will gain a greater understanding of the connection between mental health and weight. Through this discussion participants will explore the role of weight stigma and weight cycling as it relates to health outcomes, debunk common health myths and discuss an alternative approach to treating weight-related concerns.
