Ashley Classen, D.O.
Dr. Ashley M. Classen earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry-Biology at Baylor University prior to completing his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. AT UNTHSC he was awarded the Stockseth Award for Osteopathic Excellence. Dr. Classen completed an OB-GYN Internship at the Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia. This was followed by a residency in Anesthesiology after which he completed an Operational Medicine Tour as Director Advanced Hospital Corps School, Naval School of Health Science, and Medical Officer Special Warfare Group 2, (SEAL Teams 2 & 4) Amphibious Base Norfolk, Virginia. Following this, he completed fellowships in Cardiothoracic and Pediatric Anesthesiology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine and Washington Children's Hospital. Finally, he completed a Regional Anesthesia and Pain Fellowship at the Naval Hospital through the University of Virginia Navy Affiliate Program. Dr. Classen founded Trinity Pain Medicine Associates in Fort Worth in 1989 following his retirement from the U.S. Navy after 24 years of service. His Naval Enlisted Service included 2 tours in Viet Nam with the Marine Corps as an FMF Corpsman, followed by Submarine duty as Independent Duty Corpsman, USS GATO (SSN 615), SUBDEVGRU, New London, Connecticut, Support Corpsman, SEAL Team 2 Detachment. He completed his enlisted tour of duty as a Chief Hospital Corpsman after which he remained in the Naval Reserve to return to college. Dr. Classen currently pursues full-time practice in Interventional Pain Medicine with his partners, Dr. E. Jo Bailey and Dr. Ashley Bailey-Classen. He has authored several research papers in regional anesthesia and pain management. He is Past President of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists and former member of the Board of Governors, AOCA. Dr. Classen was awarded the Gold Humanism in Medicine Award and the Distinguished Service Award by the AOCA. He is an Oral and Clinical Board Examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Classen continues to be engaged in clinical education as an Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery, UNT Health Science Center, Fort Worth, supervising medical students, residents, and fellows in pain management rotations.
