Donald Hankinson


Donald Hankinson, DO, graduated from NYCOM in 1985 after completing a one year Fellowship in OP+P. He has been in practice since 1988 and is a Diplomate of the ABSPOMM, the AOBFP, and the ABFP. After 12 years of a full time Osteopathic Family Practice, he has limited his practice, since 2000, to consultations for Osteopathic care, with an emphasis on Cranial Osteopathy and Biodynamics. 


Donald is the Director of the Division of Osteopathic Medicine at Maine Medical Center and is a founding member of The Portland Osteopathic Children’s Clinic and the New England Osteopathic Heritage Center. He was a member of the BOD of the MOA from 1998 - 2007 and received their Distinguished Service Award in 2005.


Donald has studied and taught with Anne L Wales, DO’s New England study group since 1989 and with James Jealous, DO since 1990, for whom he has been teaching courses in the Biodynamic Approach to Cranial Osteopathy since 2004 at UNECOM. He has also has been privileged to give numerous lectures to the MOA, to the students at UNECOM, to residents in most of the training programs in Maine, and to numerous national and international organizations, including the AAO, the SCTF, the Cranial Academy and the Osteopathic societies in France, Belgium, and Italy.
