Greg Yesensky, DO
Dr. Yesensky received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Masters in Natural Science concentrating in Immunology from the University of Buffalo- NY. In undergraduate and graduate school Dr. Yesensky began his study of the immune system and was involved in several research projects in the early 90’s centering on HIV pathophysiology.
After medical school, he stayed in New York City for medical residency training at Saint Barnabas Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (FP/OMM) leading to board certification in both fields. During this time he would follow and maintain continuity of care for several HIV/AIDS patients both as inpatient and primary care outpatient in the South Central Bronx. It was here that he began to learn of the practice principles of HIV treatment in primary care.
After residency, he moved to the West Coast and was able to be a part of the Pacific Aids Education Teaching Center (PAETC) program at the University of Southern California. This program was geared toward a more formal and comprehensive training of practitioners to function in primary care HIV/AIDS roles through didactic lectures and clinical mentorship. Working over 6 years under the guidance of Kathy Jacobson MD and Ann Khalsa MD, he earned his HIV specialist certificate while working at the Venice Family Clinic/UCLA. He functioned as a team leader of HIV clinic in the West Los Angeles community clinic in partnership with the local Aids Service Organization, Common Ground, to establish a continuum of care for patients. In total, over the past 16 years between New York and California, he has served at community based clinics working with adults and children and teaching students in outpatient care, urgent care, inpatient care, HIV and Hepatitis care.
