Kara Hatlevoll, DO


Kara Hatlevoll is currently a PGY1 emergency medicine resident at Norman Regional Hospital in Oklahoma. Originally from North Carolina, she completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Minnesota and her Master of Science in Anatomy atTulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans before returning home for medical school at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

She discovered her passion for wilderness medicine in 2013, while completing her wilderness EMT certification in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. Since that time, she has been an active member of the Wilderness Medicine Society, attended multiple conferences, facilitated MedWar races, attended a month-long wilderness student elective in Virginia, and is currently pursuing her Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) certification.

Dr. Hatlevoll currently serves on the Wilderness Medicine Society’s Education Committee and is an associate faculty member for Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine as the resident wilderness medicine advisor. She plans to pursue a formal wilderness medicine fellowship upon graduation from residency.
