Kristina Nagai, OMS II

Kristina Mai Nagai was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii and graduated college from Pacific University Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is a second-year osteopathic medical student from Western University of Health Science COMP-NW. Her enthusiasm for research started as an OHSU Murdock Undergraduate Collaborative Research Scholar, where she investigated the long-term effects of maternal low protein diet on adult rat offspring in terms of thyroid hormone production via iodothyronine deiodinases with Primary Investigator, Dr. Ganesh Cherala. Currently at COMP-NW, she is continuing her passion for research by working with Dr. Glen Kisby on the development of a fully characterized in vitro model of human cortical brain development using human neuroprogenitor cells. This research project aims to further understand how environmental neurotoxins can induce neurodevelopmental disorders, such as epilepsy and schizophrenia.
