After receiving her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania,  Dr. Chhaya attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)– School of Osteopathic Medicine.  She completed her residency at UMDNJ – Robert  Wood Johnson University Hospital and remained on for a 4th year as Chief Resident.

She completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and then moved with her  husband to Boston where she joined the faculty in the Department of Rheumatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

After the birth of her daughter, she moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she joined Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates for several years, had her son in 2009 and is now back to indulging her passion for academic medicine.  She is Division Chair of Rheumatology  and Specialty Ambulatory Medical Director at Valleywise Health Systems and Associate Professor at Creighton Medical School.  She is also Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona Department of Internal Medicine.

Her goal is to convince at least 1-2 residents a year to pursue the field of Rheumatology and so far so good!

When she is not talking Rheum, she loves to perform Latin dance, cook and entertain with food, and talk all kinds of Saints, Eagles and Cardinals Football!
