After receiving her BA from the University of Pennsylvania Dr. Sheetal Chhaya, DO attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and remained for a 4th year as Chief Resident.
Dr. Chhaya completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and then moved to Boston where she joined the faculty in the Department of Rheumatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
She relocated to Scottsdale, AZ where she joined Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates for several years and is now back to her passion for academic medicine. She is now Division Chair of Rheumatology and Director of Medical Subspecialties at Valleywise Health Systems and part of the Internal Medicine residency program. Dr. Chhaya is also Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona Department of Internal Medicine where her goal is to convince at least 1-2 residents a year to pursue the field of Rheumatology! Dr. Chhaya recently published her a review article entitled “Updates in the diagnosis and management of giant cell arteritis” in the Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports 2019.
She is an avid and often vocal New Orleans Saints and Cardinals fan and is hoping for a return to football season once the Pandemic is over!!!
