T. Marc Calvert, JD


T. Marc Calvert, JD. While at HBU, Mr. Calvert was President of the Pre-Law Society and voted intramural athlete of the year. While at UT, he served as a clerk for the Texas Employment Commission and wrote opinions for the commission appeals department. He joined Edwards and Associates in August of 1987 after having completed a clerkship during the summer of 1986. The firm became Edwards and Calvert when Mr. Calvert became a named partner in 1991. He became board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the field of Personal Injury Trial Law in 1994 and remains re-certified. On September 3, 1996, Calvert & Associates was established. The focus of Mr. Calvert’s practice has been healthcare defense, and over the years he has handled innumerable cases, disputed matters, and appeals. He has conducted thousands of depositions, participated in hundreds of mediations, and several dozen trials. He has represented a multitude of healthcare providers before the medical, nursing, and dental boards. Mr. Calvert has tried and defended cases in both Federal and State Court, in Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Polk, Jefferson, Brazoria, Brazos, Nueces, Orange, Matagorda, Galveston, Tarrant, Hidalgo, Wharton, Jackson, Washington, Jasper, Liberty, Jacinto, and Walker Counties. He has also argued cases before Courts of Appeals. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas and in the 5th Circuit. In 1998, Mr. Calvert was nominated as a young lawyer of the year by a local district judge. In 1999, he was given an A-V rating from MartindaleHubbell indicating pre-eminent legal skills. In 2010, he was recognized by H-Texas as one of Houston’s “Top Lawyers”. He has given many presentations to healthcare providers and insurance professionals, including continuing education courses. He is one of the contributing authors to the Quick Reference Guide for Health Care Liability Issues and recently finished Doctors and the Board: A Primer on the Texas Medical Board for Texas Doctors. Mr. Calvert and his sweetheart Suzanne were married in 1982 and they have three daughters and a son, and 11 grandchildren.
