Short Description:
Border Health While the burden of obesity and diabetes in the United States continues to expand, the rate of growth of these problems and the resulting complications is more pronounced along the binational border between Texas and Mexico. During this presentation we will discuss health care trends and challenges in this region along with various methods of addressing and solving those challenges. Particular emphasis will be placed on the risk factors for and the complications of obesity and diabetes, problems with access to health services, and science-based recommendations for intervention and prevention. Investigations by the Texas Medical Board This presentation will discuss how investigations are initiated, the initial inquiry phase, the formal investigation, how best to respond, and what type of documentation is appropriate. In addition, they will discuss the normal time frames, the internal steps, and some of the most common mistakes which are made by physicians.
