Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates is program for a maximum of 19.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy

Jeff McDonald is a founding partner of the law firm of McDonald, Mackay & Weitz, L.L.P., Austin, Texas.  Licensed in Texas since 1988, Jeff has worked as an attorney in both the public and private sectors. He previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Austin, and as the Director of Hearings and Compliance for the Texas Medical Board, the Texas Physician Assistant Board, and the Texas Acupuncture Board. Cynthia (Cindy) Penkala, CMM, CMPE, CMSCS, CPOM is the Senior Director of the Physician Services Department at the AOA. In her role she provides and oversees the guidance provided AOA Affiliates, osteopathic physicians and their practices on issues impacting the daily operations of the medical practice. She raises awareness of issues that may impact osteopathic physicians and their practices and administers  the development of member education to assist physicians. With over 40 years working in the health care industry including; 14+ years of medical association experience, 18 + years managing physician practices, owning her own billing and consulting service, and an additional 10 years working in the medical field in general, Cindy uses her versatile skill set to help physicians and their practices be successful. She does this through a continual focus on service offerings, investigation, education, process improvement and a solid background in healthcare services, organizational management, medical billing, and personnel recruiting. Her drive is fueled by her passion to make sure physicians have a choice between becoming employed and remaining independent.

Dr. Martha Danhof is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice Palliative Care Medicine. Following graduation from SMU, she worked as the amino acid analyzer technician in the Department of Microbiology at UTSW and then transitioned to graduate work in the microbiology department working on viral molecular genetics. Her desire to pursue a medical career was finally realized after attending TCOM and graduating from UNTHSC-TCOM. She completed internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where she served as Chief resident in her final year of training. Dr. Danhof spent the first four-years post training as a Primary Care Physician in Allen, Texas. She then accepted a position at UNTHSC -TCOM, where she taught in the Internal Medicine department. Following, Dr. Danhof transitioned to hospital medicine, where she worked for the next 15 years. During her time as a hospitalist, she established the Palliative Care program at Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Danhof has had a passion for palliative care and hospice her entire career and feel there is great misunderstanding as to when and what palliative care can offer.

Dr. Townes “Tucker” Leigh, Jr serves as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and a team physician for SHSU athletics. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2006 and his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. Dr. Leigh completed a three-year residency at the University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency in Tuscaloosa in 2013 and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Birmingham in 2014. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, Family Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, and holds a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine. Prior to coming to SHSU, Dr. Leigh served as a team physician for the University of Southern Indiana and Alabama State University as well as providing medical coverage for many local, regional, and national events.

Dr. Leigh has research interests that focus on the education of medical learners, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, Primary Care Sports Medicine, the application of musculoskeletal ultrasound, and Quality Improvement in Primary Care Practice. He has previously presented his work nationally at the Society for Teachers of Family Medicine Annual Conference and STFM Medical Student Education Conference, and at the regional level during his time as Director of Osteopathic Education at the Southeastern Family Medicine Residency in NC. He also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine and American Family Physician and question author for Aquifer Family Medicine, which enhances medical student learning through clinical cases during their clerkship.

Dr. Leigh currently resides in The Woodlands with his wife, Sarah, and their son, Townes.

Craig Boudreaux, DO is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Medical Director at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM). Dr. Boudreaux joined the faculty in 2019 and participates in curriculum development and clinical practice development as Medical Director of SHSU Physicians.  

After receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center - Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996, Dr. Boudreaux completed a three year residency in Family Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch - Family Medicine Residency in Conroe Texas where he served the indigent patient population of Montgomery County, Texas.   

Subsequent to residency, Dr. Boudreaux joined and became part owner at Village Medical Center, a thriving primary care practice in The Woodlands Texas.  After a successful 20 year career serving a large patient population in The Woodlands, Dr. Boudreaux felt compelled to make an impact on a more regional level and to return to his roots as an osteopathic physician from East Texas.  In that vein, he sought to provide a supportive role in the effort to build SHSU-COM whose mission is to provide support for the medically underserved areas of East Texas.

David Lindley, DO, earned his undergraduate degrees at Florida State University and Florida Atlantic University. He then completed his osteopathic medical training at Nova Southeastern University and his anesthesiology residency and pain management fellowship at the University of Miami.

Dr. Lindley served as director at pain management clinics in Nebraska and Wisconsin and served as director of the Pain Management Fellowship program at the University of Miami. He entered private practice in Texas in 2015.

He is experienced in the evaluation and non-addictive management of chronic pain syndromes including those of the head, neck, back, and extremities. Dr. Lindley treats spine pain as well as joint and soft tissue pain with procedures such as radiofrequency lesioning of the nerves to major joints and tenotomy or bursectomy procedures. Additionally, Dr. Lindley has significant experience and a strong interest in kyphoplasties for compression fractures and intrathecal pump therapy for refractive pain.

Dr. Lindley’s board certifications include anesthesia and pain management, as well as a specialty certification in pain management, from the American Board of Anesthesiologists. He has been an invited speaker at conferences both in the US and in Europe.

Board-certified in gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr. Aziz has extensive experience treating all types of liver disease. He is committed to continuing medical education and training. In addition to attending annual post-graduate hepatology courses, he gives lectures throughout the year. 

As Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, he holds a weekly liver club with residents and fellows. Dr. Aziz is a member of AASLD, American College of Gastroenterology, Texas Medical Association, and American College of Osteopathic Internists. 

In his spare time, Dr. Aziz enjoys music, opera, playing guitar, running, and long bike rides. With 25 years of experience caring for patients with GI and liver disorders, he offers empowering messages of the potential to manage chronic conditions, improve quality of life, and successfully treat GI disease. His personal philosophy about life is “Exercise, Eat less, live long.”

Dr. April Wiechmann serves as the Medical Director for Integrated Behavioral Health at UNTHSC as well as the Clinical Medical Director for Geri-Psych. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  Dr. Moyers also obtained her pre-doctoral fellowship in neuromusculoskeletal medicine, also known as osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.  As an osteopath, Dr. Moyers brings a unique perspective to patient care with her vast scope of knowledge from a career in private practice and working as an OB hospitalist.  Dr. Moyers is a native Texan, wife, and mom to four boys, who is passionate about women’s health, motherhood, and family. Rohini Mehta, MD is a board-certified Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Clinical and Applied Science Education department at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, TX. She is originally from Northern Virginia and received her B.Sc. in Pharmacology from McGill University and her medical degree from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta went on to complete her residency training in psychiatry from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Mehta has a passion for medical education and has additionally served as a clinician educator for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. Her clinical interests include managing mood and anxiety disorders, especially in patients with comorbid chronic pain, and Dr. Mehta emphasizes the mind-body-spirit connection with her patients.

John J. LoCurto is the inaugural Assistant Professor of Medical Jurisprudence & Health Policy at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. He teaches across the four-year medical school curriculum and in the school’s graduate medical education, Master of Public Health, and Master of Biomedical Sciences programs.  John is also an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law. Prior to academics, John practiced law for 20 years, most of those with the United States Department of Justice. For several years, he ran the Justice Department's civil health care fraud and drug diversion programs in the Western District of Texas.

Dr. Bansal graduated from The University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii. She did her pediatric residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. After this, she remained in Dallas to do her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical School. She is an assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center and works in the emergency departments at Children’s Medical Center at Dallas and Plano.
